Jacob
lived with his mother on the streets of Eldoret until she abandoned him
at the Juvenile Remand Center at the age of 3. Moira found him in dirty
old clothes and people not taking an interest in his well being. She
rescued him and Jacob now enjoys a loving home and a new family at Hope
Homes. Jacob likes to ride bikes. |
After Irene's mother died of AIDS, her father abandoned her and her sister Faith to the streets of Eldoret. Later, at a halfway house for drug-addicted street women, Irene fell into a pot of boiling water leaving her terribly burned. After
her accident, Irene and her sister came to Hope Homes and she has
endured multiple skin grafts and surgeries to help her recover. Irene's
beautiful smile and warm eyes reflect her kind and gentle heart. | |

After Faith's mother died of AIDS, her father abandoned her and her baby sister Irene in the streets of Eldoret. A good Samaritan took them to a halfway house for drug-addicted street women where her sister was badly burned in an accident. Shortly after, Faith and her sister arrived at Hope Homes. Today, Faith, who loves to learn and is always smiling, has become the "assistant mom" and loves to help care for the younger children. |

During the violent Tribal Clashes in 2007, Haron became separated from his parents. He ended up in a refugee camp in Eldoret, Kenya, where he stayed until transferred to the Eldoret Rescue Center. In
2010, Haron came to Hope Homes where he is thriving and developing into
a wonderful little boy. He loves to play in the water and his favorite
activity is chasing the goats that live on the farm. |

Peter was born just before the deadly Tribal Clashes of 2007. Because his parents were from different tribes, they had to flee to a refugee camp. Eventually, Peter's parents abandoned him and his twin sister Jennifer. Both were found in a make shift tent, alone and starving. Peter
weighed only 13 pounds when brought to Hope Homes at the age of two.
He was unable to crawl or even chew food. Today, Peter is an active
five year old who loves to laugh and dance. |

Jennifer was born just one month before the deadly Tribal Clashes of 2007. Because her mother and father were of mixed tribes, they all to had to flee to a refugee camp where her parents abandoned her and her twin brother Peter. They were found together in a make shift tent, alone and starving. Due to malnutrition, Jennifer weighed only 5 Kgs (11 pounds) when brought to Hope Homes at the age of two. She was unable to crawl or even chew food. Today, Jennifer is a delightful five year old who loves to sing and imitate her brother.Updated: August, 2019 |

Joseph was abandoned by his mother at a store during the deadly Tribal Clashes of 2007. Authorities brought him to a children's home, but he was turned away because of overcrowding. When he arrived at Hope Homes, Joseph was severely malnourished. After
receiving much love and medical attention, Joseph is now a healthy
little boy and a real charmer with a penchant for jokes. |

Alice and her three sisters (Sylvia, Ivyonne, and Laura) were abandoned by their parents and left alone in a house. They survived by scrounging for food until a good Samaritan took them to a rescue center. Badly malnourished, she and her sisters arrived at Hope Homes in late 2012. Alice is very reserved and is extremely attached to her sisters. She is very happy to have a home where she is loved and cared for.Updated: August, 2019 |

Brian and his older brother Cliff were born in the Langas slums. After their father killed a police officer and was taken to jail, their mother, an alcoholic, abandoned them. In 2010, Brian and Cliff were brought to Hope Homes. Brian is very smart and loves going to school. His big smile and wonderful sense of humor make him a joy to be around. |

Lucy was abandoned by her mother when she was only four months old. Her father was murdered outside a bar near her home. Lucy's grandmother, with no means to support her, told the court to take Lucy away — anywhere. In 2009, Lucy came to Hope Homes, and she has not stopped smiling since the day she arrived.Updated: August, 2019 |

Brenda's mother, who was forced into prostitution by her parents, gave birth to Brenda when she was only thirteen. Unable to care for her new baby, Brenda's mother placed her in a ditch during the day with no food or water. At the age of two she weighed the same as an eight month old baby, unable to walk or talk. In
2002, she came into the care of Hope Homes and has blossomed into a
joyful young lady who loves school, baking, and always enjoys lending a
hand with the younger children. |

Julius was born in the Langas slums; his mother died during childbirth. Although taken in by an aunt, she abandoned him when he was two. Julius was found sitting on the side of a road, naked and starving. When he arrived at Hope Homes, he was unable to walk or talk and was the size of a nine month old baby. Today, after much love and care, Julius (while still small for his age) is a happy child who loves school and his toy trucks. |

Edwin's mother took him to a village and abandoned him alone in a small, locked shack. Villagers eventually heard his cries, broke into the shack, and left food for him to eat. In late 2012 the authorities brought Edwin to Hope Homes. Edwin is shy but has a wonderful smile. He is so happy to have a home where he is loved and cared for. |

Washington and his brother lost both parents and ended up living with an abusive uncle in the Langas slums. The uncle locked them in a room and only gave them small amounts of food. His brother escaped and ran away, but was never seen again. Eventually, the police removed Washington from his uncle's shack and brought him to Hope Homes in 2012. Washington is so happy to be part of a new "family" that loves and cares for him. |

When he was only four months old, Judah was abandoned by his mother, a prostitute, and thrown into a pit latrine to die. In 2002, Moira and William Thompson, the founders of Hope Homes, took Judah in as a foster child. He weighed only 1.9 Kgs (4.1 pounds). Today,
Judah is a healthy, exceptionally bright boy who loves to read. He also
eats nonstop and, as they say in Kiswahili, is anaonakana sindano -
thin as a needle! |

Steven's parents died of AIDS. He went to live with his relatives and was physically abused. When he was rescued by Hope Homes in 2007, he had never attended school and was terrified of the dark. Today
Steven has the most infectious smile, a silly sense of humor, and loves
school. He is fluent in English, loves to read, and is always ready to
watch an action movie. |

Debra is the youngest child at Hope Homes and the daughter of Musa and Eunice, the house parents for Neema House. Like all children she loves all the attention she receives from the older children. Updated: August, 2019 |

Ryan is the younger brother of Lorna.His parents, David and Emmah are our house parents for Amani House. He loves to giggle and always runs instead of walking.

Derick is the oldest child of Musa and Eunice, the house couple for Neema House. He has special artistic abilities for someone his age and dreams of becoming an architect.

Lorna was a shy girl when she first came with her parents. She is the daughter of David and Emmah, house parents of Amani House. Today, Lorna is outgoing and very social.
